One Big Difference

Words and Music By Kevin Sackett

After watching the nightly news about ISIS terrorists taking Christians and cutting off their heads I was infuriated. I hated the terrorists and I decided I was going to write a song that would crush the terrorists and revenge my Christian brothers and sisters. I sat down and started writing the song and I finished in about 20 minutes. The end result was completely different than I ever imagined but it was clear to me that God was teaching me a lesson about salvation, mercy, and grace. Here are the words to One Big Difference:

Captured by a terrorist, he had me on my knees, and he wants to take my head,

He looked at me with anger as he raised his knife , I just looked at him and said,

We all make our choices, in what we believe, I chose Jesus Christ so I’m already free,

There’s only one big difference now between you and me,

That’s where and what we’re doing for eternity,

He looked a little puzzled and I thought that he’d go wild, I just prayed he understood,

I told him I was not afraid cause Jesus had my soul, and I said that God was good,

We all make our choices, and what we believe, I chose Jesus Christ so I’m already free,

There’s only one big difference now between you and me,

That’s where and what we’re doing for eternity,

He didn’t say a word and I was still alive, so I told him what I knew,

I said that we were once the same and then how I was changed,

on that day I heard the truth,

Well I was amazed when I realized, the language I was speaking, it wasn’t mine,

He could understand me as I spoke his native tongue,

Something I had never learned and I had never done,

He put down his knife and he untied my hands, and in his language he spoke,

I heard every word he said and I could comprehend, He just wanted me to know,

“We all make our choices, and what we believe, I choose Jesus Christ,

He is all I need,

Thank God you opened up my eyes and I can finally see”, said the former terrorist,

kneeling next to me.
